transmedia design [skin]
"Skin has become inadequate in interfacing with reality. Technology has become the body's new membrane of existence" -Nam June Paik
SKIN is a transmedia piece broken down into three types of media: print based, moving image and interactive. Each one was cut into three as follows:
Print Based
-Type only [Recreation of cellular structure of the skin organ with words related to the concept of skin]
-Image only [Compilation of images of human scared skin, vegetable and fruit skins overlaid by a high contrast map of human skin]
-Type and image [Skin used as a media to preserve the memoir of a loved one]
Moving Image
-Moving image only [Slow motion clips showing the behavior of skin as a protective/container element with a balloon]
-Sound only [Imitation of the sound of rain with rubbing, snapping and clapping hands]
-Image and sound [Video piece of a man getting a skeleton tattooed on his hand with a high pitched audio content of the needle penetrating into the skin]
Interactive
-Interchangeable hoodies that mutate as skin depending on the ecosystem selected as if it were used for survival. Each hoodie features natural sounds of the selected habitat
Skin works as an interface but also as a protector with specific behaviours. All the pieces express characteristics of the concept of skin, artificial and natural.
